Mindfulness is basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing. We notice beauty, and often feel appreciation. It is also a very calming state that can carry you through the whole day if practiced intermittently.
What it’s not? It will not fix your problems or modify behavior you’d wish was different, alone. But, combining being mindful with affirmations is a powerful duo that will. This feature of the app directs your mind to self and desired behavior modification, in your own voice. It can also help you see new behaviors that you have changed by working with affirmations during mindfulness.
Simply find a quiet place and sit with hands resting on your knees with hands facing up and open. Then breathe in from the souls of your feet up through the crown of your head. Then breathe out, either from your mouth or visualize your breathe going out of your throat, heart or whatever feels right. You can activate the mindfulness section by recording your voice offering guidance once you have learned what works for you. Ways to feel more present include listening to what you hear outside, then inside, then in your body. Once you learn to do this sitting you can use it while doing dishes, walking the dog or flying in an airplane. You can have your eyes open or closed.
